Signings and Readings.

I hope to introduce The Other Canal to High Wycombe on Saturday 20th August at the signing in Waterstones from 11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Whilst in Beaconsfield today I popped into the Beacon Bookshop. How lovely to still have a real bookshop in the town! It is a flourishing shop and they were interested to learn that I am giving a talk about The Other Canal on Wednesday 7th September at 11.00 a.m. for an hour in Beaconsfield Library. The book will be available at the talk, but will also be on sale at the Beacon Bookshop for those who cannot make it. Having left the bookshop I spent a pleasant half hour in the sun outside Costa with a cappuccino, watching the world go by. Lovely.

There is also a talk in Hazlemere Library on Saturday 10th August at 11.00 a.m.

  1. I loved the book, as did a friend that I gave it to. So you now have a following in Florida! I thought the plot was well constructed, and multi-layered. It really fit the phrase, "couldn't put it down". Would be a great book club read. Can't wait for the sequel!

Unlike the author I have never been to Thailand. However, Barbara Butcher's vivid portrayal of life there made me feel as if I had. Her characters are strong and convincing and the plot flows smoothly and quickly with a realism that is almost palpable. Richly satisfying. An outstanding storyteller.

  3. This novel is exciting with a very clever plot full of intrigue and suspense. The characters are so real that it is difficult to put the book down as the reader needs to find out what happens to each of them and how the plot unfolds! Even the title "The Other Canal" is a mystery until a cryptic clue within the story reveals the source of the mystery.
I would thoroughly recommend this book and would love to see it adapted as a film. It is exciting to find such a gifted new author and I look forward to any future books written by Barbara Butcher.
